Day 1: Settle In & Soak Up the Charm

Arrive in the postcard-perfect village of Beer, where whitewashed cottages tumble down to a shingle beach dotted with colourful fishing boats. Or Branscombe, said to be the longest village in England, with gorgeous greenery leading down to the pebble beach hugged by red cliffs.

Afternoon:

  • Stretch your legs with a walk along the South West Coast Path to Beer Head for panoramic views of Lyme Bay. Beer Head Bistro, based on the caravan park is perfect for a coffee stop or bite to eat.
  • Wander into Beer and grab a Devon cream tea at, a Bay View Café just at the bottom of the high street. Or if you’d rather relax with a pint of local ale, The Anchor Inn boasts a beer garden overlooking the sea.

Evening:

  • You’re spoilt for choice for dinner in Beer! Why not try Smugglers Kitchen or Steamers, where you can enjoy a fresh & flavourful menu of local produce.
  • Stroll the beach at sunset before heading back to your Sweetcombe retreat.

Day 2: Branscombe Beauty & Coastline Wanders

Morning:

  • Enjoy breakfast on the beach at Ducky’s beach shack in Beer.
  • Walk the scenic 2-mile clifftop path to Branscombe, one of England’s longest and loveliest villages.
  • Fuel up with a drink or cream tea at The Old Bakery, a locally run café nestled beside the village forge. This is now a fantastic village store with produce, crafts and plants to buy too!

Midday:

  • After visiting The Old Bakery, pop over the road to the Forge, built in the 18th century, it is believed to be the oldest thatched working forge in the county!
  • Stroll down to Branscombe Beach via the footpath opposite the village hall. Enjoy lunch at the Sea Shanty Beach Café, or a swim and wood fired Sauna with Jurassic Saunas (booking required).

Afternoon:

  • Hike the circular walk from Branscombe to Weston Mouth and back — a quieter stretch of coast with incredible sea views.

Evening:

  • Head to The Masons Arms, a 14th-century thatched inn with a menu packed with Devon flavours. You’ll find everything from contemporary takes on pub classics to sumptuous seasonal specials.

Day 3: Artisanal Finds & Relaxed Exploring

Morning:

  • Take it slow with breakfast at your cottage, then browse the shops & galleries in Beer, you’re bound to find some unique gifts and goodies. Woozies Deli is a must to bring a taste of Devon back home with you.  

Afternoon:

  • Explore nearby Pecorama, a delightful model railway and gardens attraction with views over Lyme Bay — great for kids or the young at heart. Or if you fancy something different, try Beer Quarry Caves (booking required) guided tours of the 2,000 year old man-made caverns.
  • Or opt for one last walk, this time heading west from Beer towards Seaton Hole, where you might spot dolphins if you’re lucky!

Evening:

  • You’ll have walked past many fine eateries, so take your pick for your final dinner. Or even treat yourself to fish & chips on the beach to top of your seaside staycation experience!
