Best Christmas Walks in Devon

Devon is rich with stunning scenery and nature, beautiful at any time of the year but watching the sun rise over the glittering frosted fields in winter is something spectacular to behold. Pack your woolly jumpers, hats and novelty Christmas socks and set out on one of our favourite Christmas walks this winter.

Dartmoor

One of our family’s favourite Christmas walks is a circular walk on Dartmoor, packed with flasks full of hot chocolate and a hearty pub lunch at The Warren House Inn to finish. Choose from a selection of self-guided short walks direct from the National Park Visitor Centres at Haytor, Postbridge and Princetown. Another stunning Dartmoor walk is around Fernworthy Reservoir, a 3 mile mostly flat walk, soaking in the dramatic landscape reflecting on the water, finished off with a lunch in the quaint village of Chagford, a short drive away. Be sure to take a map and plenty of warm clothes as the weather can change in an instant!

Killerton

This National Trust House is on the outskirts of Exeter, wonder around the grounds or enjoy the 2.5 mile circular loop walk which starts at Killerton House and winds its way through the estate to Danes Wood before looping back again.
