We found the property rather shabbier than appeared on the website. The lounge furniture was not suitable for older people with slight mobility difficulties. The mechanism on the recliner armchair (very old & worn) was broken & the leatherette tacky & grubby. Such a shame as this was the only chair easy to get up from, the sofas being quite low. Also, to be able reach the blinds in the lounge to close them we had to climb onto the sofas. The decor throughout the property, apart from the bathroom, was quite dated & in need of refurbishment
There were some positive aspects though, which enabled us to enjoy our stay in Sidmouth. The close proximity to the sea front & town was great. The parking arrangements were a bonus. Also, we found the bathroom, with walk in shower very clean, fresh & manageable, although a grab rail in the shower would have been very useful. The kitchen was well equipped & the beds clean & comfortable.
Unfortunately, mainly due the set up in the lounge, we would not stay at 1 The Fort again & feel the property is a bit over priced.
