Overview

Claremont is a superb spacious quality property situated in the heart of Sidmouth just 10 minutes' walk to the seafront and shops just up the road from The Woodlands Hotel.  The versatile accommodation is beautifully furnished and very well equipped ideal for family holidays and couples. The South West Coast Path which is close by is a favourite with many guests. 

There are steps at the front of the property to the entrance door and hallway. 

Off the hallway is a fully tiled wet room with WC.

A door leads to a spacious hallway with various rooms leading off. A kitchen with integrated appliances, Alexa, an induction hob and double oven.  A sitting room with feature fire in stone surround, Smart TV and French doors out into the large lawned garden. There are three spacious bedrooms.  

A master bedroom with a king size bed and smart TV.

A double bedroom with an internet only TV.

A further spacious double bedroom with access to the garden.

There is a second family bathroom with a walk-in shower and a free standing bath, WC and hand basin.

 The utility room is accessed off the patio with a washing machine and tumble dryer.

Outside there is a lovely, level enclosed private south west facing sheltered garden with a large area of lawn with seating areas. Parking for two cars.

This luxury grade two listed apartment is nestled within the regency seaside town of Sidmouth. Guests can explore the Jurassic Coast whilst enjoying stunning walks in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and The Donkey Sanctuary. There are a wide range of activities nearby, from Paddleboarding and water skiing to Golf at Sidmouth Golf Club and Woodbury Park. Sidmouth and the nearby local towns have a wealth of independent boutique shops, cafes and restaurants, including The Pig at Combe and Lympstone Manor.

By bus: From Exeter bus station take number 9 bus to Sidmouth Triangle. Approximately 50 minutes.

By plane: The closest airport is Exeter International. Approximately 30 minutes

We were very disappointed with 1 Claremont Cotttage. On arrival although it stated parking for 2 vehicles per cottage this would have been impossible if we had brought 2 the turning was very difficult fortunately the visitors above us only had one car as well. There was also a vehicle which turned up during our stay which was there for 2-3 nights so we had even more of a problem to maneouvre. We found there were 16 very lethal uneven steps leading up to the property. Being we took 2 dogs one with very short legs it meant carrying her up and down every time we went out and at 16 kgs. that is not practical. From opening the front door we were met with darkness and soon realised this cottage needed lights on in every room at all times as well as the heating. The cottage felt like a gentlemen’s residence with personal paintings and family photos around it almost felt like we were imposing and being that post was arriving and an Amazon delivery during our stay we got the impression the owner obviously used this as his residence when not in use as a holiday home. The cottage kitchen would benefit from having instructions on how to use equipment like the cooker and hob for example and details of where to find the recycling bins etc. please note there was no Pyrex bowl or pint measure jug in the kitchen. The Property was situated on a hill by the side of the main road in and out of Sidmouth so a lot of traffic noise whilst out in the lawn area. The lawn was mown but the garden was overgrown and needed attention. The holidaymakers above us were also not happy with their accommodation and both of us left early. We will not be returning.

The Sweetcombe team are all local and know the properties well and are always happy to advise so that guests can find the most suitable property for their party. There are 4 clearly marked parking spaces 2 for 1 Claremont and 2 for number 2 Claremont, Sweetcombe have let these properties for three seasons without any parking issues. The description and photographs on the webpage clearly depict the number of steps to the apartment ,the decor and artwork are also clearly shown . The instructions for the kitchen equipment are in the Welcome folder in the property along with all the recycling instructions, we are always happy to assist if there are any issues that arise during a guests stay and resolve if possible to do so.
