Riverside Cottage

Pet Friendly Holiday

About this property

Riverside Cottage is just the sort of cottage everyone dreams of. A pretty 16/17 century "chocolate box" thatched cottage set in large private gardens and surrounded by rolling Devon countryside as far as the eye can see, a truly idyllic escape from the real world, the only passing traffic being the occasional horse or donkey using the bridleway that runs behind the cottage and the very occasional farm vehicle. Harcombe is a sleepy hamlet within the Sid Valley, which is part of East Devon's "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". Just 5 minutes from Sidford with its convenience store and excellent pub, and 10 minutes to the seaside town of Sidmouth with shops, restaurants, leisure facilities and beach.

Modern, very well equipped cottage style kitchen. Wide beamed archway to cosy and beautifully furnished dining room/sitting room, feature inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. Door to patio and garden. Cloakroom with W.C. "Garden room", a lovely relaxing room overlooking the garden with French doors to patio with glorious uninterrupted views over the local countryside. Stairs from sitting room to first floor. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and en-suite shower room with W.C. Bedroom 2 has twin single beds. Bathroom with bath, hand held shower, basin and W.C. This is a very old cottage and as such has many character features retained during the restoration work, like low ceilings and beams.

OUTSIDE: Patio with table and chairs to eat at or just to enjoy the extensive country views. Charming garden to the front of the cottage, enclosed on two sides by borders, hedges and trees running towards the adjacent field where the river tributary "Snod Brook" runs through. A bridleway runs behind the cottage which is ideal for dog walking. Dogs must be kept on a lead as farm animals graze in the area. There are other lovely walks and lanes close by.

*Short Break prices shown are for 3 nights only, please call for 4 or 5 night prices if required. Short Breaks are available from the end of October half term to the start of the Easter school holidays, or at the owners' discretion for a last minute booking at other times of the year. Unfortunately it would be most unusual for us to be in a position to consider a short break at peak holiday times, such as the October and February half terms or over the Christmas, New Year and Easter breaks.
